inspirations of a versatile vocalist with a passion for style, art, language, culture, life
time is a bit of a blur these days, but I do believe my love & I ended an emotionally productive week (or was it just a long day? I truly can’t keep track) by stumbling on this fantastic TED talk. she was perusing the site &, as often happens in life, the video essentially found us.
we watched as I washed dishes & she sat at our makeshift kitchen table, pausing (& occasionally rewinding) to take notes & reflect on poignant points, sometimes we paused simply so I could hear over the running water.
it’s a powerful message worth taking the 20 mins out of your day to listen & take with you. it’s also one that has been repeated constantly by so many successful people (oprah, most notably & most often), though I do believe there is a distinction in the message here in its focus on vulnerability as it aids in authenticity (authenticity being the more largely ‘preached’ message).
I originally intended to share my own notes/highlights but I think I’d rather leave it open to your own interpretation & discussion. enjoy it!
